All insurers ask that a woman be on the plan for a certain amount of time before they will cover a pregnancy, due to this waiting period unfortunately no insurer will cover the current pregnancy.
If you cannot get maternity cover it is still important to take medical insurance. Medical insurance offers you peace of mind in the knowledge that if something unexpected happened to you would be covered and not be confronted with extremely large medical bills.
What I suggest instead is taking a plan that will cover your wife and child for inpatient or inpatient and outpatient conditions, unrelated to the pregnancy. What I also suggest is ensuring that this plan will cover the newborn when he/she is born, i.e. if the newborn is born with any conditions he/she will be covered immediately. This is very important because newborn cover can be extremely expensive if paid out of pocket.
      Many thanks.
