Cool Off With The Top 6 Swimming Pools in Dubai

There are few ways to take the edge off the summer heat better than taking a dip in a swimming pool, and with year a year round temperate climate, Dubai is the perfect place to take advantage of a refreshing dip. We look at some of the best swimming pools that Dubai has to offer.

Cool Off With The Top 6 Swimming Pools in Dubai

Given Dubai’s geographical location, nestled on the Arabian peninsula, it’s not surprising that it can get hot. Seriously hot. From June through September there are on average 11 hours of sunshine in a day and temperatures have been known to exceed 48 degrees during the afternoon. When the mercury begins to soar there is no better way to escape that searing heat than by having a relaxing dip in a pool.

There are more than 500 hotels across Dubai, and given the city’s penchant for the grandiose, there is some serious competition as to who can hold the honour of having the best swimming pool. In no particular order, we explore some of the top contenders for this illustrious title.

Atlantis, The Palm

Located at the end of the Jumeirah Palm Beach, The Atlantis is an expansive, 1,500 room resort that encompasses Aquaventure Water Park and the Dolphin Bay Marine Park, and holds the privilege of being one of the most expensive hotels in the world. Being that it is positioned right on the Arabian Gulf coast, Atlantis at The Palm offers over 1.4 kilometres of private beach, but more importantly, two spectacular swimming pools.

The Zero entry pool is designed to be kid friendly with a host of activities for families to enjoy, and family-friendly poolside dining. The Royal Pool is a more subdued environment, intended for relaxation and quiet respite. Positioned in front of the Royal Towers, the Royal Pool provides spectacular views of the Palm Jumeirah and the dynamic Dubai cityscape. As regal as the name suggests, there are plenty of poolside sunbeds for visitors to lounge around in whilst cooling fans help keep the heat at bay as attentive staff provide complimentary ice-pops (or make your own here) and cool flannel towels.

Al Qasr

Situated on the coast of the dazzling azure waters of the Persian Gulf, the Dar Al Masyaf at Madinat Jumeirah is home to five different hotels. The most opulent of all these hotels is the Al Qasr, home of the largest pool in Dubai and indeed the entire Arabian Gulf. Modelled on a Sheik’s summer residence, the hotel intricately replicates traditional royal architecture of the region with a series of pools and waterways transecting the hotel.

The pool features plenty of bars for relaxing and basking in the sunshine, and fibre optic lights illuminate the pool during the evenings to make it come alive in the dark. For those that crave a little more adventure, guests are also afforded complimentary access to the expansive Wild Wadi Water Park, one of the most iconic water parks in the Middle East region.

Wild Wadi

More than just a pool, Wild Wadi is one of the largest water parks in the world and features 30 rides and attractions for the whole family. Based on characters from Arabian folklore, there are a host of heated and cooled pools for adults to relax in whilst young ones, or just those young at heart, can take on the wave pool or tackle the largest freefall water slide on the planet, the Jumeirah Sceirah.

Grand Hyatt

There are 5-star hotels and then there is the Grand Hyatt Dubai. A luxury hotel in the truest sense, it is literally large enough to get lost in. Whilst it may not have beach frontage, the Grand Hyatt more than makes up for that with an extraordinary pool and expansive outdoor gardens. A 2,229,607 litre leisure pool is on offer to guests, making it one of the largest pools in the city, and there is a kids-only area featuring a range of outdoor facilities and water slides for younger guests to make a splash.

In addition, the hotel is equipped with a 20 metre indoor pool equipped with an underwater sound system for exercise enthusiasts as well as  a fully equipped spa to relax away the stresses of a hard day’s shopping. There are few ways to take the edge off the summer heat better than taking a dip in a swimming pool, and with year a year round temperate climate, Dubai is the perfect place to take advantage of a refreshing dip. The Address Downtown Dubai

Located right in the heart of Dubai, The Address is situated directly next to one of Dubai’s most popular attractions, the Dubai Mall. It was recognized as having the best fitness and leisure facilities in the Middle East Hotel Awards, and of those facilities the impressive pool is the centrepiece.

The spectacular, five tiered infinity pool is kept at 31 degrees Celsius in winter and 28 degrees Celsius in summer, overlooks the dancing fountains of the Dubai Mall and features breathtaking views of the Burj Khalifa. For those wanting to bask in the sunshine, staff keep guests comfortable by serving cold towels to help keep the heat at bay.

Burj Al Arab

Positioned on a private island, the impressive Burj Al Arab hotel is renowned as one of the most opulent in the world. The infinity pool of the Burj Al Arab is based on traditional Middle Eastern architectural forms including colourful mosaic columns and is located on the 18th floor. Whilst not as large as many of the other hotels on this list, it offers unparallelled luxury and incredible views of the Dubai gulf, and for those with the money to spend, it represents the ultimate in refined luxury.
