The Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix November 2013
Posted on Oct 28, 2013 by Mike Peterson
Find out about all the racing action and nightlife coming to this year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Abu Dhabi has a long cherished tradition of pitting man against man in competitions of speed, bravery and skill for fortune and fame. Few modern events embody this as well as the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Plus, it’s a perfect excuse for the jet-set to stay in lavish hotel rooms and attend exclusive parties before the races, all the while adding to the precious tourism economy that the UAE is trying to maximize on.
Get Prepared
No matter where you watch the action from, grandstands or the VIP booth, it is still going to be an exciting time as, for the fifth year, Abu Dhabi hosts the most popular and watched motorsports event in the world. And this year’s event is fast approaching (pun intended), with practice heats to be held on Friday, November 1, the qualifying race on Saturday November 2, and the finale race on Sunday November 3.
So race fans, brush up on your gear-head vocabulary, don your favorite racing team’s shirt or cap, review the entry and exit speeds of all of Yas Marina Circuit’s 21 corners to wow your friends, and of course make sure you get your tickets while they are still available, since the event is expected to sell out.
Things To See
Even if you aren’t a speed freak, there is still plenty to go and see in the form of exhibitions, displays, celebrity appearances, and especially music. Local Arabic acts Hussein Al Jasmi, Amr Diab, and Elissa will all perform on Thursday evening, October 31. During the race days, Jay-Z has been secured as the showcase act on Friday (his first performance ever in the UAE), while MUSE will rock the house on Saturday, and Depeche Mode will seal the deal on Sunday. Concerts are only open to race-ticket holders and prices for single and multi-day tickets aren’t cheap (is anything in Abu Dhabi?), but when compared to buying two separate tickets to two single events they become a lot more reasonable.
For All The Family
Plus, as one of the newest world-class racing facilities in the world, the Yas Marina Circuit and surrounding attractions on Yas Island are a spectacle to behold for anyone and could keep any non-race fan busy for days, so mom and the girls can keep busy while dad and the boys sniff burned rubber all day.
Weather is expected to be superb for both fans and racers alike, with temps for early November normally ranging from the mid-20s to low-30s Celsius, which makes for comfortable spectating from the outdoor grandstands and perfect conditions for making loads of grip in the corners and tons of horsepower to push the cars well past 300kph on the main straight. And since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is one of the only F1 races that starts in the late afternoon and goes past sunset, the night racing action will make for an even more exciting experience as it will put many of the drivers out of their comfort zone and could be a determining factor in the overall win.
So if you haven’t decided whether to go or not, clear your schedule for at least one day from November 1 - 3 and find out what all the Formula 1 excitement is about. After all, it only comes to town once a year.
